Please help, idk what’s happening to me.Ever since I entered high school I’ve had a hard time around people. And it’s just gotten WORSE.It used to be that I was only self concious at school, but now it’s ANYWHERE where there are lots of people are.Now if i just THINK people are staring at me, I get my nervous twitches. This NEVER happens at home! And today my teacher was calling on students and I remember thinking”i hope she doesn’t call on me”(because ppl will stare at me- which i hate) and just thinking that got my heart beating fast.Well she did call on me and I had to read. The whole time I was reading my heart was beating at the fastest it’s ever has and I could hardly breathe.I was scared that I was going to pass out while reading (is this POSSIBLE?) I felt like my heart was going to jump out of my chest it was beating so fast.
My guess isthat I had an anxiety attack. What should I do to prevent them? I know that this situation (the whole reading thing) isgoingto come up again!

Monday, September 21st, 2009What to do when someone is having an anxiety attack?
Friday, July 3rd, 2009
My husband and I run a youth program, and last night one of the teens had an anxiety attack. She’s been seen by the doctor and has been given meds, but she’s been having them more frequently. I’ve never experienced someone having an anxiety attack before, so I don’t know much about the problem. She was breathing very hard, and I am assuming it was making her body weak, because she needed help walking to the car, and she was either passing out, or trying to rest her eyes and head…but every time she did, her breathing would stop. I had to keep snapping her back to consciousness. So, I guess my question is…aside from bringing her to the hospital, was there anything else I could have done to try to calm her down (for future reference)? And also, what exactly causes anxiety attacks (I would just like to get a better understanding)?
