At what point during the Great Depression did economists start calling it a depression?

Monday, December 21st, 2009
rpg asked:

I’m just wondering whether pundits and economists called it a “recession” or a “downturn” or other such euphemisms until long after it was over, when it was finally acknowledged to be a depression, or whether they called it a global depression right from the start.

Depression?

I’ve been sad for over a year now and i have gotten medication for depression and i took it for about 6 months but it didn’t feel like it was working, so i stopped taking it. i’m not sure i have depression, because i have mood swings alot. the smallest things make me sad and when they happen i just can’t control it, i just want to curl up and wait for the feelings to go away. I’ve been dating a guy and in the beginning it was great, he made me feel really good and i thought i finally got rid of the deppression, but he can say the smallest thing now and i fall apart. could he have brought my depression back? what should i do? i don’t really want to break up with him, but we really arn’t getting along that great. I don’t want to break up with him if it’s the depression and if things will get better. thanks

What’s the difference between clinical depression and dysthymic disorder?

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009
XxLindsayXxX asked:

I know clinical depression is more serious, but lasts shorter, while Dysthymic disorder [or dysthymia] is chronic and less severe. But, is there another difference in between them? Like, what types of things would cause dysthymia and clinical depression? Is it a chemical imbalance or something like that? Or does it just develop? I just want to understand what I have to deal with better. =/

Is it possible to suddenly develop postpartum depression when your baby is 6 months old?

Saturday, December 5th, 2009

I had this with my middle child so I know what it feels like. My youngest is 6 months old and I am suddenly feeling symptoms of postpartum depression. I was just fine until now. I breastfeed only and there have been no changes with that at all. I have been losing about half a pound every day or two also, for no reason at all. Is it just hormones being goofy or something else?
