   hyper-inflation was the cause.

   People had to collect their wages and buy their food immediately, so that they could afford enough to eat.

   The USA caused it.

   The German Weimar Republic faced demands of immediate repayment of loans (granted by USA, the USA was itself effectively bankrupt as a result of money shortage after the Wall Street crash).
