I was thinking about breaking a piece of xanax off and giving it to her to reduce the seperation anxiety and administering daily doses while I am away. Anyone have any experience with cat anxiety and benzodiazepams?

No, do not give her medicine intended for humans. You could kill her. Have the vet prescribe something meant for cats in a cat dosage.

so you’re a cat psychologist ?
How could you possibly know if a cat has anxiety ?
seriously… that’s a bad idea. It’s not likely to have the same type of affect on the cat as it does you anyway…it’s also possible your cat could die as a result of liver or kidney failure if you dose him too much.
Are you sure it’s anxiety and not a cat just being a cat? Why do you think your cat has anxiety separation issue/ Cats are not like dogs in that manner. My cat is alone every Thursday for quite some time and he never does anything that I would consider anxiety. When I come home, then he runs all over the place just to let me know he’s happy I’m home. He takes out one of his toys and we play. Don’t give him Xanax if you want your cat alive when you come home. Think about it/
You had best consult a vet before you give a cat medicine intended for humans. You can kill it.
are you friggin crazy? damn thats dumb it will kill your cat get her catnip, YOU CAN”T GIVE CATS xanax you are truly dumb
no damn way! if you are concerned about her anxiity bring her to your vet and they will give you a special pill to calm your kitty without posioning her. please take her to the vet!
Both my dog and 2 cats are prescribed xanax 1mg for anxiety from thunderstorms. So I don’t think its a bad idea to give your cat xanax, just consult with your vet and see what she thinks the right dosage would be or if he/she thinks they should take somthing else instead. Hope this helps!
